Delete your account
Applies to chesslinebook.com and the Chesslinebook mobile apps.
You can have your Chesslinebook account and every piece of data attached to it permanently deleted at any time. Deletion is free, and you don't need the app installed to request it.
How to request deletion
Send an email to chesslinebookteam@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my account", from the email address you sign in with.
Sending from your sign-in address is how we verify the request is really yours. We'll confirm by reply, and the account and its data are permanently deleted within 30 days.
What gets deleted
- Your account itself (the sign-in identity).
- All notebooks, lines, games, and study notes stored in the cloud.
- Your drill (spaced-repetition) progress and puzzle bank.
- Sharing relationships and any coach/student comments attached to your account.
- Appearance and training preferences synced to your account.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you'd like a copy of your data first, use ⚙ Settings → Your data in the app — it exports all your notebooks (PGN) and a full backup (JSON) in one tap, before you ask us to delete.
Class accounts (students who joined with a class code)
Class accounts contain no email address and no personal information beyond a first name. To have one deleted, either ask your coach to contact us, or email chesslinebookteam@gmail.com with the first name and class code used to join. Abandoned class accounts that never joined a class are also cleaned up automatically after 30 days.
Deleting some data without closing your account
- Any notebook can be deleted in-app at any time (⋯ menu → 🗑 Delete). This removes it from the cloud immediately.
- Signing out of the app removes your drill progress and puzzle bank from that device.
- If you never sign in, nothing is stored on our servers at all — everything lives in your browser or on your device.
